Introduction

          Public awareness towards education can be increased by the following actions: Generating public awareness, particularly among targeted groups, about relevant laws and regulations. Moreover, educational and awareness efforts can target practically any sector of society. They can seek to raise public awareness broadly on environmental issues (e.g., through the media) or they may be a targeted campaign or educational effort focused on a specific sector (or target audience) on a specific issue.

Objectives



To know the level of awareness among general public about education in Salem taluk





To know the opinion of general public about various colleges in Salem taluk

To suggest any measures to improve the level of education to the various colleges in Salem taluk 



Scope of the study

       The present study is made to analyze the public awareness towards education .It aims at analyzing the extend of awareness of the general public. The study is based on primary data collected from the public regarding the awareness of the education. The area of the study is limited to Salem taluk.

Research Design

             Research design refers to the researchers over plan for obtaining answers to the research questions and the strategies that the researchers adapt to develops information that as adequate, accurate, objective and interpretable. Research design is a blue print study t

 Population

 It was a study from the public awareness towards education (A Special Reference to Various Colleges in Salem Taluk) through data collected by interview schedule population. The public in Salem city is the population..

Limitations

ô      Sample is limited to 200 respondents.

ô      The  study confined to Salem taluk  alone , for a limited period of 15 days

Statistical analysis

               The data analysis used by the researcher is percentage analysis.

Suggestions



Government colleges take necessary steps to improve the level of education in Salem taluk

Private colleges tries to reduce the semester fees, it is the big burden for parents and students.

Facilities in the private colleges are more appreciable by the students, parents and general public.



Conclusion

                In Salem taluk, the top four leading private colleges are Vysya, Jairam, AVS, and Sri Saradha College for women. These colleges come under the category of Best three, so above all four colleges have good name and fame in Salem taluk. Other six colleges having a good reputation but level of education is lesser. At the same time level of awareness regarding education to the general public will be high.
